



University Jean Monnet (UJM) is a dynamic, mid-sized, university with over 20 000 students, including over 10% of international or exchange students from all over the world. UJM is a multidisciplinary university with degree and research programmes in a wide range of fields, but which is particularly recognized for its outstanding programmes and expertise in certain specific fields, including sports sciences. The University has recently created a Graduate School on Physical Activity, Training and Health in Sports sciences (G.S. PATHS) to promote our degree programmes, research and continuing education in this particular area, building on a history of collaboration between UJM’s Faculty of Medicine and the Sports Sciences department at the Faculty of Sciences.

The HPS master programme is implemented for the most part by academicians of the Sports and Exercise Sciences department at UJM, including specialists of topics such as Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, adapted physical activity, Fatigue and sleep, Sports performance and optimised training, Injury prevention. Some classes may be given by collaborators from other universities, or the university Hospital of Saint-Etienne. Most of the teaching staff are affiliated with the Inter-university Laboratory of Human Movement Biology.
A large part of the classes will take place on the Métare Campus in Saint-Etienne, on the edge of the Pilat Mountains Regional Park, in the Sports and Exercise Sciences department. The department totals nearly 1000 enrolled students at undergraduate and graduate levels, and is well equipped with learning labs and monitoring gear to conduct studies in physiology or practice various sports.
