Enrolment costs include the tuition fee and payment of the CVEC student life contribution. For all students, the total of these fees will be < 400 €, regardless of your nationality or age. Some scholarship beneficiaries may be able to benefit from a fee waver for the tuition cost and/or the CVEC contribution.
The cost of living in Saint-Etienne is comparatively low. Students can rent a furnished room for as little as 350€ a month, and sharing a flat can also be an inexpensive solution. Students can benefit from student cafeteria meals at 3€ a meal, and students under 26 years of age can get a monthly bus pass for 10€ a month.
To live comfortably and study under good conditions, we recommend a budget of at least 750€ per month, excluding funds for leisure and travel costs. Note that international students who need a visa must attest to resources of at least 615€ per month for the duration of their studies (10 months for HPS) to obtain their visa.
The PATHS Graduate School at UJM Saint-Etienne offers scholarships of 2 500 € to second-year master students, which in the case of incoming international students can completed by a 1 000 € complementary mobility incentive. Details of the call and application procedure will be published on the website of the PATHS Graduate School when the call opens.
Campus France is a French national agency in charge of promoting French higher education et assisting international students that wish to come study in France. Among other services they provide a grant data-base and search engine with over 200 master-level scholarship offers. Some only concern specific fields, and some only target specific regions or universities in France, while many others are bilateral agreements between France and a specific country. If you find a grant you are eligible for and wish to apply to HPS, we will gladly consider supporting your application.
Every year in the autumn, The French Ministry of European and Foreign Affairs and Campus France opens the France Excellence Eiffel scholarship call, under which outstanding students can obtain a scholarship of 1 181 € per month to pursue a Master in France. Students must apply through the University of their choice. At UJM, we can support the application for an Eiffel scholarship of students that have excellent background and who wish to enrol in our master programmes.
